ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE OF CREIRO
The Archaeological Site of Creiro is an industrial complex for the salt fishing production of the Roman period and has remains of the factories’ ruins, bathhouses and warehouses. The fish salting building was built in the 1st century BC and at the end of the century went through refurbishment work that increased the number of existing tanks. It was in these salting tanks that the fish, mostly sardines and mackerels macerated in salt, being preserved for a long period.
